About Our RockJam Workshops
Did you know that playing music in a band can support confidence, wellbeing and social development?
Playing music with others can encourage teamwork, self-expression, discipline and confidence, while helping young musicians feel part of a group.
Joining a band can also give children and young people a sense of structure and achievement and encourage them to develop their musical interests.
Who Can Join RockJam?
🎸 Ages 8–17 | Grouped by Age & Experience🎤
🎶 All instruments welcome!
🎓 For most students aged 11 to 17, some experience on their chosen instrument is required before joining a group.
👧 For younger students aged 8 to 10, beginners are welcome to try piano, drums or vocals. No prior experience is required. Confidence, enthusiasm and a willingness to learn are key!
🎸 Guitar players of all ages should already have a basic understanding of chords and simple strumming before joining a band.

Why We Love RockJam 🎸
So, why not encourage your child to join a band today?
These are one hour after school live music group workshops where children play pop/rock songs in a band format.
Our Tutors help children learn how to play together in a band, focusing on one or two songs each term, with regular opportunities to perform at HHMS concerts in front of family and friends. We have seen children who may initially be shy develop greater confidence and enjoyment of making music through taking part in RockJam.
We organise groups according to age, musical ability and instrumentation to create balanced bands.
The RockJam experience: Why It Works?
RockJam offers something special. It’s more than just playing an instrument, it’s about learning to play with others. Our students grow in confidence, develop real musical skills, and have a brilliant time doing it.
At RockJam, your child will:
Rehearse in real bands with students of a similar age and ability.
Work on popular songs chosen to challenge and excite
Build musical communication and teamwork
Perform live at HHMS concerts
Enjoy the buzz of creating something together
We support every student at their own pace, whether they’re beginners or already confident performers. 
Our RockJam Tutors 🎸
RockJam workshops are led by experienced musicians and music Tutors who are passionate about helping young people enjoy making music together.

Tutors working with children through RockJam are subject to HHMS’s safer recruitment and safeguarding procedures, including appropriate identity, right to work, reference and DBS checks.
Workshop Fee
RockJam workshops are £21 per one-hour session.
We run our workshops in line with the London Borough of Haringey school term dates.
Where And When?
WEDNESDAYS – 3 workshops from 4.30 pm to 5.30 pm, 5.30 pm to 6.30 pm and 6.30 pm to 7.30 pm
THURSDAYS – 3 workshops from 4.00 pm to 5.00 pm, 5.00 pm to 6.00 pm and 6.00 pm to 7.00 pm
📍The Location is Hornsey Town Hall, The Broadway, Crouch End, London N8 9JJ.
We run our workshops in line with the London Borough of Haringey school term dates.
Places in all groups are subject to availability.
If your preferred group is full, we will do our best to offer a suitable alternative where possible!👍🏻

My kids are attending Rock Jam at Hayto Music School with Harvey, and I couldn’t be happier! They have created a positive and inspiring environment where the kids are having fun while learning how to play in a rock band. We love the show at the end of each term; it really shows how much they improve in confidence on stage and in their instrumental techniques.
Rock Jam is a brilliant experience for young people who want to rock on and be in a band. Guitars, drums, sax, flute, you name it, you can play it. The teachers rock and while I did have to convince my daughter that it would be fun, she came out beaming. Well done Rock Jam… high recs all around.
My son has had a great time being part of the rock band and individual lessons that the music school have set up for him. The school is well organised, the teachers are knowledgeable, kind and encouraging and the results are excellent. Thank you to James and the team.
